What an
exciting time in your life, you are expecting a baby. As you
are learning, babies change your life in many ways. Already
your life is becoming busier than ever, with planning for
the arrival of your baby. There are so many things you need
to do to get your home ready for your babies arrival. One
fun, yet important step is creating the nursery.
The first thing you should do is look at your finances and
set a budget for the nursery. If this is your first baby,
you will be amazed at all the things that are available for
babies. If you start shopping without a budget in mind you
can quickly spend a small fortune. So, decide what you can
afford in advance.
When you start shopping for furniture for the nursery, be
aware that many cribs are made to be converted into a
toddler bed and/or a full size bed. There are also changing
tables available that can later be used as a dresser. This
convertible furniture is budget friendly in that it will
grow with your child and will save money in the long run.
For babies to be such little bitty things, they sure do have
a lot of stuff, and you will need some place to put it. So,
storage in the nursery should be high on your list of
priorities.
Always keep safety in mind when selecting storage to go in a
child's room. Bookshelves should be sturdy and not easily
turned over. Toys should be stored in boxes or bins without
lids. You don't want your little one to be hurt by a lid
falling, or worse stuck inside a toy box because the lid
fell.
The one thing many moms-to-be never consider when setting up
the nursery is one of the most important things for you, a
comfy place to sit. You will be spending lots of time in the
nursery and you will want to be comfortable, especially when
it is two o'clock in the morning. So, be sure to add a nice
soft rocker that you can sink into as you feed your baby.
The first night your baby doesn't sleep well, you will be
glad you did.
